Holmfirth
Th'Owd Towser in the centre of Holmfirth was used for a group exhibition, Holmfirth Arts Festival in June '11 and curated by Alice Bradshaw and Vanessa Haley.
The building and environs is a grade 1 listed heritage site, once used as the village lock up, mortuary, ambulance station and fire station. It is probably the oldest building in Holmfirth dating from about 1597.
Old webs in deep windows trap moths and flies - here in this jail, insects themselves are locked up and unable to escape through the open window, they die and are just left.
Others have been held here or had their lives changed. Marks made as a vain remembrance surround that which will be remembered, that will live on.
